The future indefinite tense with examples and exercise.

 In this article, I have explained the introduction and use of future indefinite tense. I have also given examples of future indefinite tense. I have explained the simple, negative, and interrogative sentences of future indefinite tense.


Future Indefinite Tense

Introduction

It is used to express an action that has not accrued yet and will be accrued after saying or in future
For example, I shall go to kasure tomorrow. In this sentence, the person has intended to visit the zoo tomorrow. In short, these sentences express an action that will be done in the future.

  • Action accrued after saying
  • Action accrued in future

Rules


Helping verb will and shall is used in sentences. Fist form of verb or base form is used as the main verb in a sentence.

Structure of sentence

Positive sentence

In order to translate Urdu sentences into English, If the subject is I and We Shall is written after them. After “shall” the first form of the main verb is written, then the object is written. Will is used after all other subjects. In this tense First form of the main verb is used after will and shall because will and shall are modal verbs. We know that Modal verbs are always followed by the base or first form of the main verb. The structure of positive sentences is the following.

Subject + Helping Verb Will/Shall + Main verb + Object

Subject + Will / Shall +Main Verb+ VI + Object

Examples

  • I shall wait for you
  • We shall play all matches.
  • He will obey his parents.
  • She will go to the bazaar today.
  • Ahamad will receive his friends. 
  • You will tell a lie again.
  • They will travel all day.

Negative sentences

Not is used after the helping verb. Not is used after will and shall.
The structure of Negative sentences is the following.

Subject + Helping Verb Will /Shall + Not + Main verb + Object

Subject + Helping Verb Will / shall + Not + VI + object

Examples

  • I shall not wait for you.
  • We shall not play a match.
  • He will not obey his parents.
  • She will not go to the bazaar today.
  • Ahmad will not receive his friends.
  • You will not tell a lie again.
  • They will not travel all day.

Interrogative Sentence

Interrogative sentences start with the helping verb will and shall. Ist form of the main verb is used as the main verb in a sentence. The subject is used after the helping verb and then the first form of main is used. At the end of the sentence, the object is used. The structure of the sentence is following.

Helping VerbWill /Shall + Subject + Main Verb + Object

Helping VerbWill / Shall + Subject + VI + Object

Examples

  • Shall I wait for you?
  • Shall we play all matches?
  • Will he obey his parents?
  • Will she go to the bazaar today? 
  • Will Ahmad receive his friends?
  • Will you tell a lie again?
  • Will they travel all day?

Interrogative + Negative

The helping verb will and shall is used at the beginning of the sentence and not is used after the subject. The first form of the main verb is used after the subject and in the end, the object is used. The following is the structure of interrogative plus negative sentences.

Helping Verb Will /Shall + Subject + Not + Main Verb + Object

Helping VerbWill / Shall + Subject + Not + VI + Object. 

Examples

  • Shall I not wait for you?
  • Shall we not play all matches?
  • Will she not go to the bazaar today?
  • Will Ahmad not receive his friends?
  • Will they not travel all day?

(WH) Interrogative sentences

WH words like who, how, which, what, when, where are used at the start of the sentences. Helping verb will or shall is used after wh-words. The subject is used after the helping verb then the first form of the main verb and in the end, an object is used in Wh interrogative sentences. 

WH( Words) + Helping Verb + Subject + Main Verb + Object

When + will / shall + Subject + VI + object

  • When shall I wait for you? 
  • Why shall we play all matches?
  • Where will he obey his parents?
  • Why will she go to the bazaar?
  • When will Ahmad receive his friends?
  • Where will you tell a lie?
  • How will they travel all day?

    He will not go in the evening.

2. He will get up late. 
   He will not get up late.
   Will he get up late?
   When will he get up late? 

3. I shall explain this point.
    I shall not explain this point.
   Shall I explain this point?
   How shall I explain this point? 

4. She will rise her hands in the class.
    She will not rise her hands in class.
    Will she rise her hands in the class?
    Who will rise his hands is the class? 

5. I shall pass the exam next year. 
    I shall not pass the exam next year.
    Shall I pass the exam next year?
    Shall I not pass the exam next year?
    How shall I pass the exam next year? 

6. Goher will come to see us next Sunday.
    Goher will not come to see us next year.
    Will Goher come to see us next Sunday?
    Will Goher not come to see us next Sunday?
    Why will Goher come to see us next Sunday? 

7. We play cricket tomorrow.
    We shall not play cricket tomorrow.
    Shall we play cricket tomorrow?
    Shall we not play cricket tomorrow.
    How shall we play cricket tomorrow? 

8. They will not waste time.
    They will not waste time.
    Will they waste time?
    Will they not waste time?
    Why will they waste time? 

9. You will buy a new house.
    You will not buy a new house.
    Will you buy a new house?
    Will you not buy a new house?
    When will you buy a new house? 

10. They will tease us.
     They will not tease us.
     Will they tease us?
     How will they tease us?
