How to use feel like in sentences with examples and exercise.

 In this article, I have explained the use of' Feel like' with examples and exercises. I have explained the use of feel like in affirmative, negative, and interrogative sentences. I have also given the exercise at the end of the article.


The use of feel like

'Feel like is used in order to express desire and wish.' Feel like is used when we want to do something. Feel like is used according to tense. After feel like the first form of the main verb plus ing is used. If the sentence is negative then not is used after the helping verb.

The structure of the sentence

Subject + Feel (According to tense) Like + Main Verb + Object
Subject + Feel like + VIing + Object

Examples

1. I feel like going abroad. 
   (I want to go abroad)
2. He feels like working hard.
    (He wants to work hard)
3. We feel like becoming rich.
    (We want to be rich)
4. I feel like talking to that girl.
    (I want to talk to that girl)
5. He feels like driving a new car.
    (We want to drive a new car)
6. We shall feel like learning English.
    (We want to learn English)
7. Young people feel like watching movies.
    (Young people want to watch movies)
8. I feel like smoking.
    (I want to smoke)
9. He felt like reading a new book. 
   (I wanted to read a new book)
10. I felt like going there.
   (I wanted to go there)

The use feels like in negative Sentences

The Structure of the sentence

Subject + Helping Verb + Not + Feel Like + Main Verb + Object
Subject + HV(According to tense) + Feel Like + Ving + Object

Examples

1. He will not feel like inviting us to the party.
    (He will not want to invite us)
2. He did not feel like going to China.
    (He did not want to go china)
3. I do not feel like going abroad.
    (I do not want to go abroad)
4. He did not feel like working hard.
    (He did not want to work)
5. We shall not feel like becoming rich.
    (We shall not want to become rich)
6. I did not feel like talking to that girl.
    (I did not want to talk to that girl)
