The use of let in active voice & Passive voice sentences

The let is used in the sentences in which we allow someone to do something. It is used in different sentences. When it is used in interrogative sentences, it always used at the beginning of the sentence.

Examples 

• Let him go.
• Let the patient rest.
• Let him eat.

Use of let in Tenses

Let is also used in different tenses. When it is used in tenses, the object is used after let and then the first form of the main verb is used immediately after the object.

Examples 

• He let me sits.
• I let him go.
• I shall let him read.

The Use of' let' in Passive Voice

'To' is never used after let but when let is used in passive voice sentences then 'to' is used.

Examples

I let him go. (Active Voice)
He is let to go by me. (Passive Voice)
We let him read. (Active Voice)
He was let to read by us. (Passive Voice)
Let him sleep. (Active Voice)
Let he be let to sleep. (Passive Voice)
Passive Voice of Imperative Sentences
Open the door. (Active Voice)
Let the door be opened. (Passive Voice)

Use of let at the beginning of the sentences

Some imperative sentences with 'let' start with let. In order to convert into passive voice, let is used at the beginning, and then the object is used. 'Be' is used after the object and then 1st form of the main verb is used.

Examples 

Let him go. (Active Voice)
Let he be let to go. (Passive Voice)
Let him work. (Active Voice)
Let he be let to work. (Passive Voice)
Let him sit on the chair. (Active Voice)
Let he be sit let to sit on the chair. (Passive Voice)
Let children play in the ground. (Active Voice)
Let children be let to play in the ground.(Passive Voice)
Let youngsters make merry. (Active Voice)
Let youngsters be let to make merry. (Passive Voice)
Let him have his way. (Active Voice)
Let he be let to have his way. (Passive Voice)
